Editorial reviews from the web (2)

The black mole's "to die for" at this "definitive" Mexican spot in Koreatown, where families dig into "big", "value"-oriented portions of "authentic, honest" Oaxacan cuisine; a staff that "likes to help" and "quirky", traditional decor accented with live music create an ambiance that's "full of life."

Peek into a Oaxacan kitchen and taste its awe-inspiring moles.

cheap, good, and real

Love this place. I go all of the time. Staff is always friendly. Sometimes they are short staffed, but the waiters are never neglectful. It is great because it's not another LA restaurant that tries to impress you with its atmosphere... its atmosphere is very real and Mexican. Lots of cool day of the dead decor. The food is great and the best Horchata drink I've ever had.

The mole is authentic and really quite tasty. Unortunately the rest of food is insipid and much too full of grease and lard. General quality and preparations do not measure up to what I ate in restaurants or on the street in Oaxaca. LA has many better Mex establishments. Buy a quart of mole and take it home instead and eat it while watching Rick Bayless.
