"No-frills" says it all about this "friendly" NoHo Cajun where the "solid" vittles arrive in a "dumpy", verging on "campy" setting; 30-plus years on, the crowd's still "local", the vibe "downtown" and the jukebox as "great" as ever.

"Slow food" and Southern stylings are just the epicurean reason that Great Jones is what the French bistro might've looked like had the archetype originated State-side.

Great Jones Cafe Restaurant Review

With its slack-jaw façade, this NoHo restaurant could seriously pass for a roadhouse in the rural South. The place will satisfy cravings for turbo margaritas, po' boys, jambalaya, honey-smothered cornbread and good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll. There's not much more to report, except that the food is cheap, the portions big and the screen door is bright orange. Brunch is also a scene, and,...

Ragin' Cajun with a can't-miss bright orange façade. Rare juke joint in the concrete jungle. Hollerin' blues and diabolical vodka lemonades. The Cajun Mary, a spicy ode to the blessed Virgin, will kick your brunch up a notch, Emeril-syle. Legit gumbo and the best peppered, blackened catfish. Sucks you in for hours; spits you out drunk and sated.

Awesome

Great value, solid food, cool place. Go here and get the gumbo with jalapeño cornbread and you won't regret it. Take that to the bank.

I had a bad meal at Great Jones Cafe. When I visited the restaurant only the brunch menu was available – I had seen reviews and photos from their regular menu and the food looked and sounded great. The brunch still sounded interesting, and being a Southern food lover, I was excited to try it out. However, my excitement quickly dissipated when the food was placed in front of me.

Great Southern/Cajun food. Came here with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. I had the jambalaya - it was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, and the chicken was so tender it melted in your mouth. Place is pretty small and has a hipster kind of vibe. Lots of good beers.

Stumbled upon this place as a shield from the snow after failing the lottery at the public theatre... It is absolutely without a doubt the luckiest place I could've stumbled upon. Soooooo delicious. The jambalaya is worth trekking snow for. Corn bread! Garlic mashed potatoes. Can't go wrong!!!!

We have been to Nola several times so bar is high if I see creole. This place has food spiced right.Veggie burger, jambalaya, and honey chicken were all hits. It's a small joint with right atmosphere and nice little bar. Staff friendly too.
