Grant Park stretches from the Museum Campus at Lake Shore Drive and Roosevelt Road all the way north to the Prudential building, with Columbus Drive on its west side and the lake on its east. At one time, this stretch of land was undeveloped and a prime target for builders. Most city officials at the time felt that the public land would be better suited to bring revenue to the city, but Ward pushed Daniel Burnham's plan in which the land next to the lake would be preserved as "Chicago's front... more

Grant Park stands out among other Chicago parks for its design, which is reminiscent of the great parks throughout Europe. Especially unique to this park are its pebble-covered walks, ample tree coverage, and of course, the spectacular Buckingham Fountain. A quiet place to walk (when it's not Taste of Chicago), Grant Park is an asset to the city.
