Fine Italian dining in Boston's historic North Square
The Scene
Just a stone's throw from Paul Revere's House, this prototypical North End eatery has remained successful for decades by following a simple formula: serve basic Italian fare at...
My family and I stumbled onto Gennaro
My family and I stumbled onto Gennaro’s last summer and loved it! So I brought out of town business associates to dinner here last night and it was excellent. The food, service and location could not have been better. While Hanover Street is exciting (and just a block away) this is an oasis of quiet, calm dinning where you can actually have a conversation without competing with the table next...
My wife and I dined at Gennaro's last night. For the money it was a good choice. Our entrees were good. I got the Jumbo Spinach/cheese ravioli my wife got the Rolled Stuffed Eggplant. What was disappointing was the $10 Cesar Salad that was mostly white salad with few greens ( I should have sent it back). We got a glass of Merlot, the glass was barely half full and the wine was pretty tasteless. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Gennaro's; from the location to the view to the service, ambiance and not to mention the food. Hands down one of the top dining spots in the North End!

Unlike most of the North End's popular eateries, 5 North Square doesn't offer valet service. Your best bet is to look for parking in the financial district (try around Broad St.) and then walk about 10 minutes.
If you're on a romantic date or celebrating a special occasion, try to reserve the famous table 30, a quiet little corner table that offers the best views in the house.
Don't be surprised if you end up doing a little stargazing. The restaurant is popular with visiting athletes, as well as the occasional celebrity.
