Help us make it rightThe menu here is too highfalutin for the Bayou St. John neighborhood,
but not ambitious enough for big-event dining. Still, charm
is certainly in abundance. We like the starter barbecued-shrimp
pie, complete with a seemingly superfluous creamy sweet-potato
filling that somehow worked, and the smoked chicken gumbo was
just right for a blustery winter night.
We found Gabrielle because it is out near the Fairgounds racetrack.
Once we found it we just ignored all others in the city of restaurants.
When my server found out I was from Kentucky and had no French he
sold me the rabbit special. The next night he just said "it's
pig and you'll love it". I did!!
Parking can be a problem, but it's that kind of town.
New Orleans has many great fine dining experiences--add this
one to the list! We really enjoyed our dinner and it gets you out
to Esplanade, a sometimes neglected part of the city.
Gabrielle is a fine dining restaurant that focuses on a contemporary Creole cuisine and is most sought for their seafood.
