Arcadia has some competition for dim sum places now, but I still think Full House deserves its long waits for a table. The food quality is excellent, and the service is good for a chinese restaurant. Which means by most standards its terrible, but I always have lower expectations for chinese restaurants. If you go before 10:30, you'll not have much of a wait but the full selection of items doesn't tend to come out until after 11 AM. I guess that's when the rest of their staff arrives and kicks the kitchen into high gear.
I love this place, and it seems that many of the locals do too. On the average weekend, it's packed and at least a 15-min wait. I suggest getting there early, between 10 and noon, getting a number and wandering around the complex. You might even have time to jaunt over to 99 Ranch next door and pick up a few groceries. The wait is well worth it. Good har gow and shu mai, to-drool-for salty spicy fried squid, really good duck.. mmm.. I'm starting to salivate already! Oh, and if you don't have time to sit and eat, you can do to-go orders through the food court next door. Just to the left of Full House, and walk all the way down the far left back corner, where you see the ducks hanging. :o)
For those of us in the San Gabriel Valley, there are a few Dim Sum houses that everyone knows. Full house is one of them. Hot, fresh dumplings and baked goods are wheeled past and offered for your choosing. Lunch is served from 10-2pm, and I recommend going on the early side, both to avoid a long wait (especially on weekends) and to sample the freshest, hottest dumplings.
Although the restaurant is relatively small, the dim sum carts still manage to make their way around to all the tables. The straightforward, unpretentious decor--marked by white...
Our friends in Sierra Madre took us here for brunch on Sunday. At least 90% of the patrons were Asian. Few spoke English well. But we have lived in Hong Kong, and the food outstanding. A typical di sum restaurant and not gourmet faire, but really good food and not expensive. More than we could eat for $10 per person...
