In 1978, some of Fresno’s community leaders came
up with the idea of raising money to build a
museum to serve the San Joaquin Valley area.
Between 1981 and 1985, they fund-raised a little
over $5.5 million to help toward the construction
and operation of the museum. The museum opened to
the public on April 4, 1984 and since then has
educated and entertained more than 1.7 million

This is a good place to take your family, especially if you have young children. The cost to get inside is fairly cheap and students get a discount. Some really unique exhibits are showcased and they are totally worth visiting but the lighting is set up very poorly. The museum has random exhibits that are mainly aimed towards children. The building is not conducive to exhibiting art work. The galleries are spread out all over the place and the lighting is terrible. An average museum experience. Personally, I recommend the Fresno Art Museum.
