Established in 1949 as the Fresno Arts Center and later renamed as the Fresno Arts Center and Museum in 1985, it was rechristened finally to its present name a few years later. The Fresno Art Museum features contemporary and modern art exhibits by local, national and international artists. Performing arts and theater programs are held in Bonner Auditorium. Docent-led group tours are also available. Open Tues-Fri (11am-5pm, Thur until 8pm) and Sat-Sun (11am-5pm). Free admission all day on Tues and from 5 to 8 pm on Thurs.
Admission is free on Tuesdays for both children and adults. If a teacher wishes to bring their class to the museum, modest arrangements in advance will allow the entire group to get in for free any day of the week.
