We had some of the same experiences as a few of the other reviews. There were open tables but still a wait. Some aspects of the service was slow. But overall we liked it. Ate much of the DDD menu, with a few other things. Chargrilled oysters were a hit, even with the folks in our group who wouldn't ordinarily eat them. Some of the other food either had too many flavors or too strong of spicing...

Hands down the best shrimp and grits I've ever had (it was previously Wild Iris in Brentwood). Every person in our party had very good things to say about what they ordered. The chicken gumbo was apparently fab, as was the lost pread, the waffles and "the best chicken wings (she) ever had". Bottomless mimosas and the build your own Bloody Mary. Don't get the 81% rating, should be much higher....

Food was good overall but not great. Service was substandard and you would expect better service at these prices. I have been to over a dozen #TripleD restaurants and this is, by far, the most underwhelming. I can't see going back when there are other eateries that are better alternatives with similar cuisine and good service. Waited 35 minutes on a Sunday with open tables is the front and rear...

Great place for Hot Fried Chicken. I ate at 55 South for the first time today...with my family. We shared an order of the homemade guacamole.....it was wonderful. I had the Hot Fried Chicken....on white bread with mayo and pickles. The chicken was delicious....and crispy with just the right about of hot sauce. The cole slaw was ok....not great. A little dry. The French fries were only room...
