I was just thinking that instead of landing the user at an error page if they just hit the /user/ url, it would be cool to show a small matrix of user photos that take you to their profiles. You could start small and increase the matrix as users and add pictures. I did this for guidedawgs and I think It makes for a tasteful backstop. Definitely a "when there's nothing better to work on" feature.

    Hi Bill,

Definitely! Or rather, I like it... I was just about to just do it actually. I've been shot down temporarily though. (Darn, foolish me for asking the others here ;-) )

We're working through a little bit what kind of control, if any, we give users for how visible they are on the site. One of our sticks is that we don't want to turn into "OMG Social Networking v2.0!!". We're a local site with real local users, not myspace.

Your suggestion wouldn't turn us into myspace, but we're still sketching out what direction we are going with that stuff.

(I know lots of people are happy and passionate MySpace users, but I completely don't get it -- Anil Dash summarized it pretty well for me - http://anil.vox.com/library/post/mysp... :-) )

Anyway - yes, you are right. We need to make the /user/ URL not just be an error! Thanks for bringing it up!

I can not seem to get another reply here so I am posting this here.
I have requested this information on my business to be removed. My company is not Personal Service Entertainment nor am I a medium or a psychic.

    The number is 702-382-8300
    My company Leigh Harris Presents.

I received an email assuring me three months ago this would be taken care of. What do I need to do to have this removed. It causes problems in my day to day business with annoying calls for a medium and so forth. These people are telling me where they are getting this information.
    yellowwood.com through Google.

Now I have an attorney and will proceed next with that method if I do not see an immediate removal.

    Hi Leigh,

Our site wasn't up three months ago, so I think you have us confused with someone else on that count.

I've removed the erroneous tags from your listing on our site. It might take a little while before the correction is visible on the site, but it should be there in the next day or two (our backend processing is a little backlogged with a big update right now).

We got the wrong data from Localeze - you can get it updated in their database at http://localeze.com/manage/

I also noticed that Citysearch has you listed as a "medium", you might want to contact them about that (although maybe they were the ones telling you it'd be taken care of 3 months ago?)

You could be right I found it in twenty listings. Very Odd. However group that was responsible was Yellow Bot. I spoke with a customer service rep. SuperPages was also a culprit in this. I actually had a distraught woman come to my door looking for advise from a medium. LOL

Any way I am trying to delete these as I go. I really just wish companies would honor there sites and the customers wishes. Just remove them when requested.

I do stand corrected .on the 3 month thing I was being hasty
Yellow Bot assured me this was taken care of 30 days prior. I have the re-assuring emails from Yellow Bot.

I do not have all day to argue with comapany's over my listings being wrong. I will have to take other measures if this matter continues to be ignored. All of write me with who else has me listed wrong and why it is not your fault, I just want it removed.

    Thanks for your reply
