The history of Foris Vineyards is the history of grape growing in the Illinois Valley, the farming area east of Cave Junction. The first five acres of vines were planted back in 1973, about the same time that the Willamette Valley wineries were just starting up. Ted Gerber brought his family to Oregon to escape the urban life-style and fast pace of California, and a farm and vineyard seemed the perfect choice.
