Flying A applies the adage “something old, something new” to fashionable clothing. Mixing vintage stock with contemporary attire, this Danish shop has built its business on catering to a crowd that prefers downtown cool over Soho couture. Women can match up a Technicolor Pucci-esque print dress from the seventies with a pair of pink Spitfire aviators; men might go for a pair of G-Star Raw blue... more

In Short This store distinguishes itself from its Soho peers by offering downtown style at a reasonable price. Some serious browsing is required here, but with a little patience and a sharp eye, a few beloved items are sure to be found. Aside from the used Levis, battered T-shirts and '70s rabbit-fur jackets, there are plenty of brand-new items, ranging from bags to socks decorated... more

One of the last remnents of downtown style in the couture world that is Soho, Flying A offers a great selection of simple, classic styles, from vintage to contemporary. Reusable shopping bags double... more

I LOVE their clothes! You can find one of a kind peices without the pressure of some snooty salesperson. The cothes are definitely more retro and very hip. You have to be patient and try things on, many items come in just small sizes, however, it's worth it to try on a few of the same style dresses to find one that fits. The staff is so friendly and the buyer obviuosly has a good eye for great... more

It doesn't get much hipper than Flying A if you are looking for a pair of shoes. These are the kind of shoes that you would wear for a night out clubbing and slacking off. No penny loafers here. Neat selection and the salesstaff were friendly and very helpful.

SoHo Chic

A shining example of affordable SoHo chic. They have one of the best stocks of Blue Marlin-wear, which is almost unheard of in the city, given most other stores have just bits and pieces of the collection. The sales people aren't pretentious. And in terms of marketing, they have a really cool shopping bag.
