Flanagan, John, Dvm - Studio City Animal Hospital

Never take your pet here!!

What this place did to our dog is inexcusable! What should have been a small emergency case of rest and re-hydration for a dog has turned into a life and death situation exacerbated by a vet too incompetent to actually care for our dog. If you value your pet I would stay far away from SCAH!

While my husband and I were out of town this week (04/05/08), we put our dog in "day care." While he was there he stopped eating/drinking. The day care felt that it was an emergency and took him to SCAH.

We rushed back to town as fast as we could and taken to the back of the animal hospital where we found our dog in a kennel with an IV in his paw, soaking in his own urine. We were pretty horrified about the state of our pet. The back of the animal hospital was total chaos, we could not find the attending vet and the staff could not be bothered to assist us.

We had to leave our dog overnight so that he could be re-hydrated. When we came back the next day we were presented with a bill that included a charge for "wound cleaning/clipping." We couldn't believe it! We were never told that the dog had any wounds and when we questioned it we were told it was for treating hotspots and scald.

The vet never bothered to mention that while they allowed our dog to soak in his own urine he was getting excruciating, infected bedsores. When the dog was finally brought out to us he had been shaved over a third of his body and was covered in red, infected blisters. He could not walk at all and looked like he had been run over by a car.

The staff treated us with plenty of attitude, the vet acted as if we were wasting his time and we were presented with an enormous bill (which included unnecessary tests). We were then given back our dog in such terrible condition that we thought we were going to have to put him down. We're still not sure if he's going to make it.

I have been going to this vet since I first got my Maltese. They seemed fine until my dog started to have some real issues. I had to take her to the ER about a month and a half ago and she was transferred over to SCAH the next day. After spending over $2000 on treatments and tests I was told that they didn't know what is wrong with her. She has had multiple tests since then and the Vets there... more

We found a baby Opossum hurt from a trap, they took him right away and he's doing great! They also offer a discount if you do bring in the wild ones - very nice and concerned.

SCAH isnt as bad as many claim it to be. Im sure several families have had their differences, but by no means is it to the point that I just have to go somewhere else and throw this hospital under the bus. It is so far the BEST animal hospital my wife and I have gone to for over the last 3 years now. They show a lot of love for your pets and will chit chat while you wait.

Im sure not all Vets... more
