Fireside

I really enjoy the Fireside. In the summer, we boat up to their dock and watch the sunset over a bottle of wine. The food is always great. I've had steak, walleye, and desserts here. The full service bar is great, and I've always had good service. This place is not cheap. Come here if you want fine dining and can afford to pay for it.

This place is overrated. They charge blood for their food, have a less than friendly wait staff and upon receiving my food it was cold and very unimpressive. I've had better meals at truck stop diners. If you're visiting Detroit Lakes and looking for a good place to eat, save your money and go to Sunlite, Spanky's or Bleachers. We celebrated a birthday at the Fireside on a Tuesday evening. We sat by the windows on the east side of the lake facing west and watched the sun set. There was no problem getting in but we made a reservation anyway.
Service was great, very attentive and smiley.

My experience here the last few years is very hit and miss. Becoming more of a "miss" as the norm. Don't mind the prices if the quality is there - it's just that the quality isn't always there.
