Recently redone to the tune of $1.5 million, this club oozes divine decadence. Visitors can enjoy the outside patio, dance on the glass-enclosed floor, or ogle the "eye-dancers" who float overhead in glass boxes. A maze of mirrors leads to the dance floor; nearby are the roped-off VIP rooms that served as walk-in refrigerators in a past life but now hold Hollywood's glitterati.

Filene's (say "Fie- leen's ") is a full-service department store with all the usual trappings plus a terrific cosmetics department. The original Filene's Basement is still downstairs, under separate management.

Sadly the original location is gone since they've torn down the original Filene's, but the basement has relocated to Back Bay. They've still got all kinds of merchandise on great discounts. I don't know if they still do the Automatic Markdowns that were so great at the Downtown Crossing location, but it's still one of the first places I go to when I'm shopping.
