A project of the nationally lauded FareStart job-training program, this eatery in a sleek, dramatic space on Virginia Street serves an American-style lunch of sandwiches, burgers, mac-and-cheese, and fries during the week, as well as rotating specials. The kitchen is staffed by formerly homeless men and women (the servers are not) and the spirit of community outreach runs deep. Reservations are...

Found on Open Table, what a treasure! A modern, open feel, friendly staff of volunteers with a guest chef that provided the food...all to benefit the homeless in an environment of caring. We had a great cajun dinner before the theater on Thursday night, the only night of the week they serve dinner. The restaurant is dedicated to helping homeless find shelter and teaches living and career skills...

We love Fare Start. Knowing the price goes toward educating people in the community is enough, but the menus from renowned local chefs is over the top. If you want to enjoy a sampling of excellent Seattle fare, come here. If you support giving people who need it a chance to succeed, pick a Thursday every month and enjoy!

Farestart is a great place to lunch in-city. We have always supported it's mission of giving people a leg up. It was a bit loud for conversation, but we were in the middle. Ask to be seated on the side.

Incredible organization with an incredibly well run restaurant. The staff were polite, courteous and fast. Our group was thoroughly impressed with the service and food. Made it all the better with the mission y'all serve. Social enterprise done right.
