Calculatedly authentic Irish pub in the heart of River North. While they do pull a mean Guinness, the room has the tinny charm of a theme bar and more cell phones than all of Donegal. But Raters give props to the food -- hefty, bone-warming servings of typical pub grub such as fish-and-chips, shepherd's pie, and lots of potatoes. A traditional Irish breakfast is served all day, every day. The... more

The emerald isle’s cuisine, hospitality and traditions all come alive here. The menu won’t disappoint the herbivorous or carnivorous foodies. It comprises, corned beef, shepherd’s pie and cabbage cooked innovatively plus sea fare and steaks coupled with mouth-watering starters. Manic music is not left behind either. Enter specially on St.Patrick’s day to find out whether all the grub is in green!

The Scene Part of an American chain that has true Erin roots, Fado has "Irish" decor down: stone formations, looms, trunks and garish Celtic imagery. The first floor is bar, angles and alcoves. The mezzanine is a faux ship's deck, with one long, curved banquette and few tables. Second-floor tables are mostly tiny, with little elbow room; seats are hard, backless stools. The... more

Irish is in. Celtic is cool. And Fado, the new Irish restaurant at the corner of Clark and Grand, is hot, cool and in the right place at the right time.

OK, so maybe this review should have run the week before St. Patrick's Day. No, not a good thing. Unless you feel at home in a crush of a thousand revelers--drinking (and spilling) and singing and eating--you wouldn't have... more

Fado in Gaelic means "long ago," and indeed this multi-level bar has captured the feel of Irish pubs drenched as much in tradition as in Harp and Tullamore Dew. Fado is almost an Irish museum, with every piece of woodwork, stone and decor having been brought over from the Emerald Isle. There are six distinct themes to the decor, each reminiscent of a specific style of Irish pub--country cottage... more

A couple of cold ones, corned beef and cabbage and I never heard of brown bread ice cream but trust me and the bartender. Can't wait to get back for a replay. I don't write reviews unless a place is extraordinarily (good or bad). I really liked this place and no, I'm not Irish.

I'm really into Irish pubs lately. This place is pretty good. Woudl recommend if you're looking for the Irish hang-out and don't want to go too far north.
