Thumbs up to Specail Events at Essen Haus!

My favorite times at the Essen Haus are when they have free live music out door parties & festival type events. On Memorial day they had a Summer Palooza event with six bands. The food from the grill was between $1.50 for brats, burgers & BBQ pork & up to $14 for a full rack of ribs that were delicious! There was a fenced in kids area with free toys, games & candy. They give kids candy like they give adults beer! ha ha

the first Saturday in May they had a Mai fest (like Oktoberfest in spring) They had a Maypole with professional Morris dance troop instructing volunteers of all ages from 3-73 in the Maypole dances. That was really fun to watch. They serve bier outside in 1/2 liter plastic boots or steins you get to take home! The band that played Copper Box is one of my favorites. They make it to Madison a few times a year. Copper Box was here for the Essen Haus Mardi Gr as party also.

I give a big Thumbs up to Essen Haus special events!

Great food

The food was excellent, as was the selection of German beer. Ate here with a German friend who raved about the Jaeger Schnitzel being close to the best she's ever had!
The building was a little dingy/run down, but the food was great, and would certainly eat here again!

A historic building that has a hotel next door that some say is haunted, this place exudes German heritage and culture within its doors. The food is spectacular as the beer battered fries were phenomenal! The buffalo wings were average but the cheese curds were the kids favorite. The beer selection is great and the choices for kids were good...

My husband and I went there March 5 to celebrate my 50th bday. He had the grilled chicken sandwich, which he said was one of the best he's ever had. I had the grilled cheese and bacon. It was tasty. We loved the little soft pretzels that were delivered to us with our waters. The French Fries were very good,...
