Our favorite bookstore , which also happens to be an independent, is located in the heart of Pioneer Square, and features warm exposed-brick walls, high ceilings, creaky floors, smart people behind the counter, and lots of new and used books. It's the best bookstore in the city - it has soul as well as a good children's section. The Elliott Bay Cafe [206.682.6664], located in the grotto...

In Short The creak of wood floors, worn by more than 25 years of traffic, greets shoppers at Elliott Bay. This is a quintessential Northwest bookstore and hangout, celebrated for its extensive fiction selection. The shop carries every book imaginable, antique editions, calendars, greeting cards, high-brow magazines--sometimes you'll find autographed books by your favorite author....

In Short Located underneath Elliott Bay Books in the cave-like space of what was once the Pioneer Square Underground, this hip cafe welcomes Seattle's literary population with open arms. Caffeinated options include espresso and a serious selection of teas, including yerba mate and Morning Glory chai. Breakfast and lunch choices include granola with milk, bagels with cream cheese, a...

However after getting lunch "to-go" from there I have to say how disappointed I was. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich...

Elliott Bay Cafe is near my work and we stop in there at least once a week for lunch. They are so crowded, but only because it's so good. Their specialty pastries and bread make the sandwiches great. Take a number and enjoy the crowds! Outdoor seating in the summer in Pioneer Square.

I found Elliott Bay Book Company to be a nice, quaint store. They are quite large and have two different upstairs sections. They have many books that I have not seen in used bookstores here in Yakima, Wa. Their prices are somewhat higher than in Yakima, but, you're also seeing many books here that you don't see in Yakima either. Conditions of the books seemed to be pretty good. Their...
