Fun day trip

My family and I decided to take a day trip from St. Louis to Elephant Rock over Memorial Day weekend. Beautiful park to explore and hike. The park is like a giant play ground for adults and kids alike to climb and explore. Great walking paths for those who might like gravel or dirt paths. Nice markers along the way...

The bones of the Earth are exposed in this singular location. The circumferential walking path has lots of interpretive signage, and follows an easy grade that takes you ultimately to the area where the giant rounded red boulders stand. The quarrymen who carved out blocks of stone to be used in the constructions of the middle to late 1800's also...

We want there for a day trip from St. Louis. The place is very beautiful and definitely it's worth see it. But going the whole way from St. Louis, almost 100 miles one way, was a bit too much for it.

My wife's daughter kept singing the praises of this place so we went there while on our honeymoon. I'm not impressed. It's nothing more than a bunch of rocks. It had been raining that weekend and so the rocks were wet, they are mossy and my wife slipped and fell on her face and knee.

My wife (32) and myself (39) went with my brother (45) and his wife (43). Our children (13, and 10) my nieces (11,4,3). Everyone had the time of their life, (with the exception of my sister-in-law). We all climbed, jumped and played like teenagers, even the small children.
