After all these years, delighted devotees continue to come here to get their bulk candy, dried fruit and nuts. More recently, the store has added gourmet coffee and teas, sugar free candy and even gift baskets. Just a few of the store’s many individual items include dried apples,... more

Rivington Street's Economy Candy is pure over-the-top New York, a font of variety and abundance that would leave Willy Wonka weeping in his cocoa. You know that big hotel across the way, the one with all the pretty rock stars? They buy their nighty-night sweets here. But you can get a Big League Chew, heavenly macaroons, or thousands of other confections just by walking in. Keeping it thrifty since 1937. For the ultra-cheap: Snag a kid on Halloween to send in for a plastic pumpkin full of freebies.

Okay - it's on the bare fringes of Chinatown, and it's not Asian food by far. But if you're in the area, you have to go to this place! Economy candy carries all of the old time stuff - chocolate cigarettes, satellite wafers, necco wafers, pez, and a ton o' gourmet chocolates like Lindt and Kinder. It's like being a kid in a--er, um--candy store? It's a nostalgic trip into heaven. Go. Enjoy.... more
