wouldn't sell more than 1 donut, even though had dozens of donuts behind counter

We stopped by to pick-up a half-dozen doughnuts in the middle of the day. The lady told us that we could only buy "one" doughnut, even though the donut racks were pretty much full with all different types. She offered that her manager had told...them there was an event coming up later that day, so customers were restricted to a single donut. This was slightly surreal, I mean, doesn't Dunkin'...
