Du-par's

Not The Same Any More :-(

Review Rating
This new incarnation of Du Pars is not as good as the old one. The current owners closed it down for months of renovations and fired the staff; there is no continuity except for the location, name and the fact they still sell pies and have breakfast. It's not even a ghost of an experience from old scholl Du Pars. Although I found the food, prices and service tolerable but won't be coming back.

Business Description from the Web

For years, studio executives, trendy teenagers, actors and suburbanites have frequented this Du-par's alongside tourist families bummed out they didn't win a new car from Bob Barker on the adjacent CBS lot. They all come for the good coffee, the excellent french toast, pancakes and egg dishes, and the decadent pies that are an institution themselves. And since The Grove has usurped the... more

Editorial Reviews from the web

This beloved diner may have had a facelift, but the Midwest-style coffee shop formula remains intact.

In Short While aficionados will argue about whether the celebrated pancakes are as tasty or well-priced as they used to be, owner W.W. "Biff" Naylor and his executive chef daughter remodeled this local institution with an eye on tradition, right down to lovingly restoring the distinctive red Naugahyde booths. New touches include an outdoor patio and a few higher-end entrees like... more

Long story short, if you want french toast with some scrambled eggs and orange juice, it's going to cost you $25+ after tax and tip.

Went to Dupar's this past Sunday for some post-hangover goodness. It is apparently impossible to order a side of anything that doesn't the same amount as an entire entree.

French toast - $8

If you want two eggs with that? $7.50

What a joke.

Um, can I just say that if you go here and not get the pancakes then you are missing out. Not ordering the pancakes at Du-pars is like going to a fine steakhouse and ordering the chicken.

Pay no attention to the food snobs here and just go get some freaking pancakes. Oh, the corned beef hash is pretty bomb as well.

+ The pancakes!

If it weren't for the prime location in the Farmer's Market, this place would be closed. I can't imagine that anyone other than unknowing tourists ever come here. I recently moved to the neighborhood and thought this looked like a great diner-style restaurant. My husband and I first went for dinner. That night it was extremely slow and empty. It was so quiet in the restaurant we felt like we... more
