Mega Portions - Outstanding Value

Review Rating
Dougboys has generous portions of hearty food. Like the name suggests, the menu is themed with a combination of bread and military things (mostly in the name of the items.) Muffins, corn bread, pancakes, biscotti, etc. are gigantic, tasty and cheap. During the weekdays, Dougboys is quiet but on weekends, it is a brunch HQ. It's definitely a place for a relaxed breakfast.

Order a breakfast here, take home the leftovers and have enough to eat for the rest of the day. Lots of hearty breakfast dishes including scrapple, hash, S.O.S., and a variety of fancy pancakes and french toast. The bakery offers a several kinds of breads, bagels, scones and muffins.

Buttery baguettes grip huge fillings, like roast beef tricked up with Emmentaler and horseradish. For dinner or dessert ... more

Excellent food and decent service. It's a small place, and really popular, so it fills up fast. My advice would be to go early - there tends to be a wait after 10am for breakfast. The atmosphere is nice, but a little crowded because it's so popular. The food is fantastic! I've never had french toast quite like this before! The servings are big - Both for drinks and food. The waitstaff was nice and ... more

Doughboys is one of those L.A. places that always has a line. Unlike many of the others everyone gets in the staff is non-pretentious and this one is well worth the wait.Inside is a drab colored but still-somehow-cozy place staffed by friendly bohemians. The booths are large and comfortable. The coffee is good and its a good idea to order some right away cause its definitely going to take you some ... more

Doughboys: Ok, the Third Street location may have a slight health dept. mishap; and their service may not always be consistently good (even for a casual place) -- but my experiences there are almost always positive. During my last dine-in last Sunday at the Hollywood location, my companion and I shared the morning pizza (with globs of melted cheese, caramelized onions, pancetta and fried eggs) that ... more
