Best bloody mary! Mix is almost hearty in consistency with plenty of horseradish and spices. Served with the classic spicy green bean, big green olives and lime wedge.

Good, satisfying diner fare, order something with blueberries, you won't regret it. Good service, Guiness on the menu, music down in the lounge, what more could you ask for? Great casual date spot.

Ohh the Doug Fir. Where would East Burnside be without this diner/venue/hotel metroplex? The gorgeous log cabin-themed diner hosts a variety of musical events on their lower level, so you can see a show, drink a cosmo, and eat a "Fir Burger" all at the same place, then pass out in a swank room at the Jupiter Hotel just next door. The popular happy hour boats some of the best cheap bar food in... more

The top sound system, sparkling array of local and national musicians, and fantastical decor - imagine the Twin Peaks Roadhouse repackaged as Vegas discotheque - attracted immediate national attention to the subterranean venue, but folks across Portland make the trek for late-night milkshakes (an enlightened diner cuisine packs tables twenty-one hours a day) or the ever-mobbed, sorta-disgusting... more

Mint juleps and bloody marys are potent and not for the light of heart. Daintier palates will appreciate a blackberry cosmo or specialty martini.

On the Menu

Menu items include flaky halibut fish-and-chips, meltingly delish crab cakes and fire-grilled artichokes. Heavier faves like the meat loaf or biscuits and gravy will help bring you down after a long night of cocktails and clubbing.

In Short Exposed fir beams and a winding wooden bar are illuminated by chrome light fixtures in retro-mod decor. Rough-edged rockers huddle in vinyl booths, while a swanky Eastside cohort indulges at the blond-wood counter. Downstairs, a 300-person venue conjures music hounds seven nights a week. Upstairs, a huge menu of Northwest comfort cuisine and knockout libations satiate preshow... more

Imagine your granny's cabin suddenly became the "it" bar in town, and you've conjured up the Doug Fir. The food is good ole diner with a hearty Northwestern twist and the sound system was built for loud guitars. It's not all queer all the time, but it is full of young Portlandites more likely to judge you for your fashion sense than your sexual preference.

Bartender’s choice: Jamming to great music almost every day of the week, getting people wasted and chatting it up with everyone from Olympic snowboarder Shaun White to rock royalty Sean Lennon.Whether you’re there to kiss up to the drummer before his band’s set or you just wanna get all liquored up, the Doug Fir is the scenester’s ultimate destination. Its cheeky decor (woodsy log cabin... more

I was there the other night trying to get in behind someone using an id that looked extremely real (as im from the state it was issued in)... the men at the front door were extremely rude to her and starting making fun of the id, acting like high school students teasing the weird kid.. they then preceded to pass the id around laughing, and then even preceded to show me and other people outside... more

The waiters were incredibly rude. I made the mistake of going there for my 21st birthday, PLEASE DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. Bartenders are stuck up and MEAN! Here is some free advise to the workers at the Doug Fir: Tattoos and piercings don't make you cool and you look like a hypocritical idiot when you are rude to people who don't look the same as you. I will never recommend your "lounge" to... more
