The live jazz that resonates throughout the dining room on most nights takes the vibe of this standard hotel restaurant up a notch. The crowd can be little bit swanky, thanks in part to the nearby Broadway theaters and Orchestra Hall, but it holds firm to its relaxing casual atmosphere with its full menu of American favorites. Though the combination of low-key jazz and comfortable cooking is... more

Editorial Reviews from the web

Tucked away off in the Doubletree Nicollet Mall, this jazz bar is unassuming and quietly sophisticated.

In Short As its name suggests, this is posh, not down-and-dirty jazz. An eclectic mix of small combos play approachable renditions of standards throughout the week. The crush hits its peak when nearby Orchestra Hall lets out for the night, adding a gaggle of dressed-to-the-nines upper-crusties to the mix of jazz loungers and hotel guests happy enough to have stumbled downstairs.... more

I probably wouldn't go back to the Cafe Luxx in downtown Minneapolis or Ivories in Plymouth for the cuisine. But I might go back. Don't get me wrong: The food isn't bad at either restaurant. Cafe Luxx's cuisine is better than you might expect at a moderately priced hotel's dining room, and the kitchen at Ivories shows flashes of inspiration. Trouble is, given what the competition has to offer,... more

The location is on the edge of the predominant part of downtown, making it a more affordable. This hotel is not connected to the Skywalk, so you'll have to walk outside (be careful if its January :). Easy to get around and enjoy the downtown from this location.

Just visiting Minneapolis and was told this was a great place for jazz by another hotel concierge. The hotel was recently purchased and the new owners are renovating. Food was great, I had the "lacquered spare ribs" that are wonderful. Serice was very good and music was awesome. Very intimate feel when sitting in the booths. Next time I come to Minneapolis I will stay at the Doubletree.

Stayed here to see the Holidazzle parade. It's right on Nicollet Mall on 11th St, next to Brit's Pub. All of the rooms are suites and are very comfortable and clean. The rooms need a new look, but the staff is wondreful. Awesome fitness room.

Pros

+ indoor parking, friendly staff
