What the community has to say about Dock Street Brewery

Information about this business (4)

50th and Baltimore Ave is the home of the new Dock Street Brewery! In addition to a 10-barrel brewing facility, the site will houses a small restaurant centered around a wood-burning pizza oven. The new brewery is located on the edge of the University City District in Philadelphia, PA. Close neighbors with UPenn and Drexel University.

It’s very possible you weren’t alive when most of Philadelphia was built since a lot of the town was built before Grover Cleveland ever took office. These bars are as ancient… as they are awesome.

Founded in 1985, Dock Street Brewing Co. was the first microbrewery in Philadelphia and one of the first in the country. Today, Dock Street is a small artisanal brewery that finds its home in a magnificent historic firehouse on the corner of 50th and Baltimore Ave., in a progressive, eclectic and counter-culture neighborhood that reflects Dock Street's philosophy. At this University City brewpub, “awesome” wood-fired pizzas are paired with “fantastic” house brews, making it a “Penn favorite”; while some dismiss the “hipsterfied” digs in a former firehouse as “roadhouse meets Costco”, the “enthusiastic bartenders” will give you a good “excuse to stick around.”

One of Philadelphia's premiere brewpubs has reemerged in an old-world firehouse in University City and neighbors and students say cheers.

In Short
The former 50th Street Farmer's Market finds new life yet again, this time as a venerable brewpub with deep Philly roots brought back by its original owners. A casual menu...

Dock Street Brewery is a must-go-to for anyone in the West Philadelphia area. Their brews are excellent as well as their pizzas. Firstly, they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, though the perks of indoors is that you can see the distillery. They have seasonal brews right now, which are quite good. I had the espresso stout (coffee beans with a hint of dark chocolate) and my friend...
