The Scene Outwardly, not much has changed in this tiny South Philly bar since longtime owner Frank "Smockey" LaMassa retired and sold the place to a new generation of barkeeps. The Dive has three floors of fun. They place movies when it's slow and good TV shows with the captioning on when it's busier. You can still smoke in there because they don't really sell food. Sometimes there's free pizza from the pizza place across the street. I don't dig the smoking but John, the owner, is an awesome guy. The Dive is worth checking out. Dogs are allowed in too which is fun!

4 dollar PBR/Yager shot special, free pizza, smoking allowed, juke box...what's not to like?

It's overwhelmingly hipster, but whatever, you're in Bella Vista- that's kind of the deal.

Pros

+ cheap! free pizza! smoking! juke box!

Cons

- everyone's dressed like it's a Coheed and Cambria concert, very, very small space

Beer, more beer, and straight, no-frills cocktails. The jukebox is good, the conversation is never uninteresting - or you can be left alone - it's dark like that. Solid little place for a non-scene kind of pint.
