Presenting Maine's updated Eater 18, your answer to any question that begins, "Can you recommend a restaurant?" Every few months, we'll be adding pertinent restaurants that were omitted, have newly become...

The Gothic Looks Mighty Festive in the Snow

Behold The Gothic, Eater Maine's 2013 Restaurant of the Year, looking like a snow globe model. While recent weather hasn't been enjoyable for those who dislike chipping ice off their car door handles or those who value having an unbruised derriere, it does make for some pretty photos. It's a winter wonderland out there. Got a lovely winter restaurant pic you want to share? Email it to...

Vote for Maine's Stone Cold Stunner

The clock is ticking down on the 2013 Eater Awards, and Eater is asking readers to help name the winners. Readers have already helped narrow the field for Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, Hottest Restaurant and Bartender of the Year.

Now, it's time to vote in the fifth and final category: Stone Cold Stunner. This award goes to the best looking restaurant that opened or was redesigned...

Vote for Maine's Restaurant of the Year

Winners will be selected on both the local and national levels in five major categories, the voting for which begins right now.

Get out the vote for Restaurant of the Year.

Matthew Kenney's The Gothic Replacing Lost Kitchen

Whatever it was that pushed Erin French to "go deep" and take a leave of absence from her Belfast restaurant, The Lost Kitchen, the chef is not — as she wrote in a May 1 blog post — "returning home and to The Lost Kitchen, happier, healthier, found." But in a surprising twist, an even bigger name than French is opening The Gothic in its place, according to Emily Burnham of the Bangor Daily...

I say go for seafood chowder, it tasted divine and they have good coffee. We just popped in for a quick bite.

Darby's offers dependable good food in a pleasantly rustic atmosphere. Zucchini sliders, yum! Crab melt, simple and perfect. Nice wines, too. Two days we brought big groups handled effectively with friendly service.

The servers are friendly, the food is great, the atmosphere amazing. With your significant other, friends, family, kids, or sitting at the bar having a cold microbrew or local cider on tap it is a great time. We recommend to all our friends and family!!

This is always a great stop for lunch. The menu has some original gems that separate it from normal boring pub menus. Great family choices too if you're traveling with picky teenaged kids.

We visited last night with our three girls. Our one year old is allergic dairy and wheat. When the waitress brought bread to the table she brought slices of cucumber so our little one would have something to munch on. We didn't even ask. Everyone loved the food. Great food and excellent service.!!
