Business Description from the Web
In Glendale's history, Damon's Steak House is a landmark restaurant but interestingly the pre-restaurant Damon history includes a friend of Abraham Lincoln's, a career in the candy business and active duty in France during World War 1.The restaurant founder, Loyal Adelbert Damon, was born in Medford, Oregon in 1891. His parents were Charles and Carrie (Brown) Damon and during the 1800's...

Sure its kitschy, but this tiki-themed restaurant dishes up some inexpensive steaks and tropical drinks. The main draw here is the weird vibe, with lights that are always turned beyond low and pseudo-Gauguin murals covering the walls. People come specifically for the Sunday Mai Tai brunch. For the truly feckless, theres the Chi Chi: a master mix of light rum, dark rum, pineapple juice, coconut...

Glendale gave us the institution of John Wayne, and it kept the one of Damon`s. This Tikki Hut monument to the bovine has been in business since 1947, and their menu hasn`t changed much since then. Burgers galore, steaks, and fresh grilled daily seafood specials are among the choices as you dine in a Polynesian/Trader Vic`s time warp. The customers are loyal -- many go back almost as far as the...

Tips About This Business
Check out the Mai Tai brunch on Sundays from 11am to 3pm, with your choice of Mai Tai or Champagne.
There's very limited free parking on Brand Blvd. Try the metered lot directly behind (three hour max) or validated parking at the structure at California and Orange.
The South Seas decor theme began almost by accident. A single palm tree in the middle of the original Damon's inspired the gradual addition of artifacts and furnishings.

In Short Okay, so technically it's a steakhouse, but the kitschy decor and island theme is what makes it a true blue tiki haunt. An old-time landmark left over from the heyday of Polynesian-themed bars and restaurants back in the late 1950s, the restaurant moved to Brand Boulevard in 1980, and that's when the tiki sparks really started to fly. Take a look at the hostess table, where...

Don't go for the food; anything beyond a steak will leave you sorely disappointed. But the atmosphere: what a mid-century dream! Faux-Gaugin murals on every wall behind giant tanks full of tropical fish. Lights always kept low: perfect for a sunny Sunday morning when miserably drowning your sorrows is top pirority. Come to write your masterpiece, stay for the decent conversation. Fuel up with...

Damon's is a good place to go for Steak. The menu is smaller than I would prefer. The decor needs some updating. The food and drinks are very good, they do not skimp on food or drinks.
Damons used to be a family favorite but it is not what it used to be. The tired interior and uninspired menu needs up dating. We often go out of tradition, but, we leave disappointed.
Damon's is the best place for a petite filet that is out of this world! Their Mai-Tai's are huge, and I love the polynesian decor and the colorful salt water tank with its dazzling fish. A little on the pricey side.
