Front staff problems

by Sheree29 on 01/31/2014
I can't say for myself if Dr Mendez or Dr Pena are good doctors. However I have been referred to them many times and heard nothing but good things about them. The only problem is getting through the guards also known as the office staff. I've made an appointment for times and they've always look four a reason to not let me see the doctors. They are not very friendly either. I even had trouble making the appointment by phone because I would call one day and make an appointment and then they would claim I didn't have one. Another time I called to make an appointment and they said that the doctors were not accepting new patients until the new year... January 2014. So I waited until then. The receptionist told me to call her back while she ask if they are now accepting new patients. When I called back she set the appointment for me two days later, I needed to change the date for the appointment. When I call to reschedule, the reception is refused. Even though I already had an appointment set, She told me they were not accepting new patients. The next day my sister called and ask if they were accepting new patients and the receptionist said yes. A week later I attempted to make an appointment again. The appointment was finally; however, after driving all the way over there from Plano and filling out the new patient forms, they sent me away because I didn't have all my money for the insurance deductible. I asked if I could pay my co-pay and bring back the deductible. So not only said no, but told me that I didn't have a co-pay, which is not true because I called the insurance company myself. I still heard good things about these Doctors and friends kept urging me to try again. At the end of January I called again to set an appointment. They started the "we're not accepting new patients" game again. Literally an hour later I called and got the appointment. Few days later, I called to confirm the time of the appointment and AGAIN she claimed that they were not accepting new patients and told me to call the beginning of February. I called January 31 just to see what story they would give me this time. Suddenly new patients were being accepted so I set it for that same day. I came with insurance copay proof and plenty of money to pay.Everything seemed to be working okay. I was waiting for my name to be called...and then... Here we go again...the nurse called me to question my reason for visit. Once I mention ADHD as one of the reasons she tells me that neither doctors will be prescribing any control substances anymore. I know for a fact this isn't true because I know people who have been treated by them for ADHD, anxiety and treatment after getting back surgery. So they just sudden cut those patients off? They sent me away again. This time for the very last time. None of what they were saying was in the documents I signed and none of that was mentioned when the appointment was set and their was no indication of that on their website. I really don't believe the doctors actually said that. So if you want to be jerked around by the office staff, waste your time and gas driving there, then go ahead. I believe the practice will be so much better once that whole staff is fired and replaced. They give these doctors a bad reputation.

Great Doctors in the Garland Area. Doctor Cesar Pena and Doctor Leovares Mendez are very nice and really pay attention to their patients. I recommend them!!
