What the community has to say about Cole's

Information about this business (1)

Cole's Bar is what you would call a neighborhood bar for the people, by the people. The bar is owned by Coleman Brice, a musician in the band The Splendid Ape. With local artists' work sometimes on display, fashioned like a tavern, this bar is perfect to go have a drink and relax. The bar serves some beers on the tap like Goose Island Matilda, but serves cheaper beers by the bottle. The local...

A no-cover option to catch "emerging" musicians, comedy and open-mike nights, this Logan Square drinkery is an easy choice for entertainment without breaking the bank; though some say it "needs a little face-lift", those who "crack up at the graffiti in the bathrooms" wouldn't change a thing.

Dive bar with a backroom stage provides refuge for locals.

Everybody needs a place to go where the bartender knows your name, there's no cover and not a TV in sight. In Logan Square, this is it. In the evenings, a no-frills crowd leisurely sips $2 PBR and...

Very good place for larger groups. They are very accommodating. Our waiter was very much on top of things. I had the brisket reuben which was pretty good, the brisket was smoked to perfection! Good beer list too! My only disappointment was with the spatzle. I was hoping for a more traditional take on the spatzle, it was a bit odd to have it mixed with broccoli.

We've been wanting to visit The Radler but kept forgetting. After a cold walking architectural tour of downtown buildings we decided we need hearty fare and The Radler finally popped into my wife's brain at the right time. We were astonished. It isn't often when a concept creates unique twists on traditional fare. The brussel sprouts were amazing. Crisp and...

Tips about this business (3)

The Extras

Cole's provides the equipment and opportunities for local musicians and artists to showcase themselves. The back stage is equipped with two speakers, a house piano, house drum set and bass amp, so all bands have to do is show up with their guitars and rock. Artists are likewise encouraged to showcase their work on the bar's walls.

Where to Sit

Park up at the bar, where bartenders deliver easy conversation and suggest the perfect poison (microbrew or imported beer). Expect to stay all night, or at least until you've run out of quarters for the jukebox.

When to Go

Friday night is the most popular. The place gets crowded, and a live band performs in the backroom stage area. Grab your pals or go solo--the vibe is down-to-earth and friendly, so it's easy to make new friends.
