Cite Restaurant Review

Cité offers fantastic, 360-degree views from its 70th floor perch atop Lake Point Tower, and therein lies the appeal. Really, the food is not the star of the show, but dishes like garlicky escargots, steak tartare and Wagyu New York strip taste fine when Navy Pier fireworks are in view. Furthering the romance-equals-luxe-appeal: butter-poached lobster, duck a l’orange and fruit de mer risotto....

View is awesome! Food is ok, service is decent. But nothing was great. The prices here are too much for the mediocerness This is coming from someone that dines 3-4 times a month a high end restaurants like Maple & Ash, RPM steak and Joe's Seafood and Steak.

Pre-fixe valentines menu had a good variety. Service was very slow, food was mediocre. Ended up skipping desert due to the fact we had spent 2hrs there already and had run out or patience. Wasn't worth the $426 cost at all. We frequent high end restaurants for regular nights out as well as special occasions. This is the most we've spent in cities of Chicago, NYC, Boston and Miami.

Have been going here for 23 years but Valentine's Day was disappointing. Poor seating (although asked for window a month ahead). Champagne was warm! Soup was not hot. Steak was requested medium, delivered rare, sent back, not much better when it came back. Chocolate Fondue not hot/ warm. For a meal costing $400 we expected much better.

This all started back in December when we made these reservations....thought we were getting ahead of the pack. I was called 4 times from December to February "confirming" my reservation including asking to move the time up (not the biggest deal...but still), followed by asking for a credit card deposit for the table. When I confirmed and gave my credit card my understanding was that there...

We went for Valentine's Day . Table nicely decorated, staff/waiter very friendly, views are amazing, nice ambience. The food was good but not so good that we would go back. It's overpriced. It being a special occasion they only had the 5-course tasting menu available with choices for every course, which was fine. They did forget to bring the sorbet - had to remind them and we returned the main...

Tips about this business (2)

Where to Sit

The banquettes facing the windows put you side-by-side with your dining partner, but provide the best views.

The Extras

During the summer, on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, try to get a table overlooking Navy Pier--you'll be treated to a fireworks show. You won't have much privacy, though, as other diners wander over to take in the scene.
