Think coaches, not personal trainers. (You're gonna love it when they call you "champ.") As for qualifications, the staff has them in spades: Olympic hopefuls and Golden Gloves winners. Look around and you'll spot freeweights from York Barbell and treadmills by Trotter--both largely unused. Why? Because people come here for a less conventional, more engaging form of exercise.

I was looking for a gym to get back into shape, but I didn't want any anonymous chain either. I was slightly apprehensive to start with - boxing wasn't my thing. However, my reservations were totally unfounded - Church Street is a friendly place, the staff are great - knowledgeable too - and made me feel completely comfortable. I'd recommend the gym to anybody that wants something slightly... more

I was trained in church st boxing gym by a boxer trainer named RICKY RAY TAYLOR back in the day. He showed me plenty about boxing and how to carry myself inside and outside of the ring like boxers do. I'm not sure if he's still there but he was the best one they had though.

PROS: Ricky Ray Taylor
CONS: He may not be there anymore.

super original and friendly and fun
