Some good dishes, some silly dishes

It's an interesting concept - mixing chinese finger foods and mexican foods in a single restaurant, with two "take-out" windows facing the mall area, and two bars where you watch them make dim-sum or tortillas depending on which side you're on. The atmosphere is lively and loud in the evenings, and the service is pretty good, but it's still their first year in operation so that's expected.

We had Open Sesame $9 (good, fresh noodles with a sesame-oil based sauce), When Pigs Fly $12 (very good steamed buns with chinese bbq pork, very nicely done), and Scallop Ceviche $12 (rip-off, 4 tiny scallops on 4 tiny lime-halves, not even close to Ceviche in flavor, it's just limes).

The reason for the 3-stars is that the food is incredibly uneven and the pricing is really quite expensive even for Las Vegas strip hip-area standards. But I have to give credit to the two items which were very well done, and if you have the option of watching some of the dishes come out first before you order that will likely make your experience much better.

China Poblano Restaurant Review

As its name indicates, China Poblano in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas offers Chinese and Mexican cuisine. In the hands of chef José Andrés (The Bazaar by José Andrés in Beverly Hills, Jaleo in Washington D.C. and Vegas, among others), this East-West summit is light, modern and creative (not to mention a good value). Likewise, the setting is colorful and joyous, with rosy lanterns and bicycle...

Cutting-edge chef Jose Andres "shows his versatility" on both sides of this Chinese-Mexican "split personality" in the Cosmopolitan, an "intriguing" concept resulting in "inventive, tasty" eats and "fun" drinks; fans also appreciate the "attentive" service and "lively", "hip" lantern-filled environs, and the few who complain about "uncomfortable" seating will "love the take-out windows."

It's "hard to find better fish" than at this Greek "winner" inside the Cosmopolitan, a New York import offering "stunning presentations" of "sublime" seafood alongside "delicious" appetizers and Hellenic wines; fans say the "lovely", marble-floored setting (with "amazing" Strip views) and the "exceptional" service further justify the "spendy" tabs, though the prix fixe lunch menu is a "bargain."

Of all the ethnic and regional cuisines available at major restaurants on the Strip, one that has been sadly missing is Greek. Milos, based on the New York restaurant of the same name, has arrived to correct that oversight and we couldn't be more thrilled about it because here the quality and attention to detail is almost astounding. The honey they drizzle on top of their yogurt? It comes from...

Very good food and service!

Wasn’t sure what to expect but having eaten at Jaleo, I knew it would be tasty. China Poblano may now be my new favorite. The flavors are authentic and fresh and comforting. Thank you Jose and staff!

I've never been to a restaurant like this before and I was pleasantly surprised. Margaritas and guacamole with a bowl of fried rice was something I never knew I needed in life but wow. I will definitely be back!

The food was amazing. They were able to accommodate my shellfish allergy. Highly recommend!

I have allergies, they gave me a menu that showed me what I can order, very nice. It's also a very busy Friday night, we asked for our check, they forgot. Brought us dessert on the house & our check!
