Editorial reviews from the web (2)

At once "civilized", "quirky" and "charming", this "casual" "fine-dining" destination "hidden away" in an Evanston Metro station crafts "consistently good", "occasionally brilliant" New American fare in an "unpretentious, comfortable-arty setting" that's "quiet and amenable to conversation"; if a few holdouts find it "overpriced", "excellent wine choices", "friendly" service and an "atmosphere...

Comfortable atmosphere and ambitious cuisine make this Evanston favorite worth a stop.

In Short
Though it sits directly under the Davis Metra stop, noise isn't a problem at this Evanston standby, whose low-lit interior is a pleasant spot for a romantic meal. Blue leather...

Delicious food and fantastic service. Even when something minor inadvertently went wrong, our waiter handled the situation with aplomb. This was our first time here, and we will definitely be back!

Good food & service. Not very crowded so easy to visit and hear each other.

To be fair it was Mother's Day and the restaurant was overbooked and understaffed. Happy that they had a great turnout but the whole experience suffered for it. Previous visits I had a very favorable opinion of the food and restaurant but will not be back for while. The entire evening was underwhelming.

The restaurant was severely understaffed for dinner on Mother's Day. They should not have accepted the number of reservations that they did, given their situation. We walked out (after paying the bill) two hours after arriving, not...

The food is good, but the service is truly terrible. We had a Mother's Day brunch reservation for a pre fix meal with a set menu. Somehow they still managed to be slow and understaffed. Our waiter walked by multiple times without getting our order, they gave our food to a different table that sat down after us, then gave us food that had been sitting under a warmer for near and hour and was...

The perfect combination of lighthearted attitude and intense flavor in an atmosphere that proves fine dining doesn’t have to be uptight.

A great place to experience a fine dining experience served with a light-hearted attitude. Located in a unique space in downtown Evanston, beneath the Union Pacific Railroad station. Delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere and our friendly staff make Chef's Station a great place to plan your next night out. Many acquaintances felt I should be in the restaurant business, but instead I started in...

Recognized for its impeccable food, extensive wine list, quality service and cozy, comfortable ambience, Chef's Station remains a North Shore favorite.

Chef's Station can be found at Davis St 915. The following is offered: Restaurants. The entry is present with us since Sep 8, 2010 and was last updated on Nov 14, 2013. In Evanston there are 76 other Restaurants. An overview can be found here.

Food is great and so is Service. Owner, however is very rude. after spending alot of money and taking guests out for dinner the owner asked us to leave after the bill was settled as he needed the table. He is very rude and not a good businessman. We will not be returning.

I keep going back to Chef's Station because it's so much easier than going downtown and for 25% of...

Tips about this business (4)

Save Money: At $50, the kitchen's seven-course tasting menu is a great deal--and on Monday nights it's a steal for just $40.

What to Drink: Wines by the glass change depending on what's open at the bar; selections aren't necessarily top-notch. Bottles are reasonably priced, with a good selection in the $20-$30 range.
