Caioti Pizza Cafe

The home of California pizza

Review Rating
The owner invented the barbecued chicken pizza as well as pioneering our local style of pizza. The pies here are always fresh and made to order. Excellent salads. They have Mexican Coca Cola too!

The Los Alamos of CA Pizza!

Review Rating
Caioti constantly stretches the envelope of pizza and has some amazing tastes to show for it. If you appreciate the California pizza, this is the one place in LA you must go to. Caioti is in a cozy nook of a restaurant on Tujunga. It is perfect for a lazy lunch or a date. The standout dishes are the BBQ chicken pizza and the 'the salad', which purports to help with childbirth. The only problem is parking, because this is a nice pedestrian-friendly neighborhood filled with shops and coffee houses.

The first restaurant ever owned on operated by Ed LaDou, Wolfgang Puck’s first pizza chef at Spago, who also wrote the menu for California Pizza Kitchen. He is the Alice Waters of pizza, and what is coming out of his pizza oven is better than his previous two kitchens, and IMHO the best pie in southern California. And the rest of his menu is worth recommending as well.

You’d think the thin crust pizzas from former Spago pizza chef Ed LaDou would be the main attraction here, but in fact the most popular item on the menu is sought after by pregnant mothers, not pizza connoisseurs. The Salad, or so-called “Maternity Salad,” purports to induce labor in those at or beyond their due dates, and Caioti Café has volumes of guest books filled with success stories to... more

By the chef who created California pizza for Wolfgang Puck's Spago, this menu serves a full menu of innovative pizza, such as shrimp and goat cheese or lamb-sausage pizza with grilled eggplant, roasted garlic, and goat cheese.

In Short Walls decorated with menus from now-defunct Angeleno eateries line the walls of this tiny restaurant. Outside, chatty locals and their dogs lounge at sidewalk tables. Chef-owner Ed LaDou made pizza an art form at Spago and California Pizza Kitchen and these pies also feature thin crusts and imaginative toppings--from barbecue chicken to grilled eggplant to oysters... more

They screwed up my simple order on two occasions, pizza was cold, and very slow staff. Over priced for pizza that could be much better.

Pros

+ It's edible if you are hungry.

- Expensive Pizza and Poor service.

If you're in a hurry, you might get mad. But if you're not, this is a great spot to grab some really interesting and unique food in Tujunga Village. Really interesting pizzas, salads, and homemade pastas.

I liked this place for awhile and have been at least 10 times, but I will never go back. For one thing, I have never appreciated the staff there - One girl in particular likes to make weird and off-putting comments in some effort to be witty, and really it's just uncomfortable. Most of them seem bitter to be having to work at a restaurant instead of being on TV or something, and they tend to... more
