Scent of Italy in the heart of Hollywood View Website Banquet Rooms Catering Wine List Opened since 1990, Ca' Brea is a great spot, with lots of wonderful looking carved wood, polished granite, high cellings, sand-blasted glass - all the right details, and turns, complete with private rooms upstair, which seem to stretch all over the place, and the requisite open kitchen. Their menu encompasses authentic Italian cuisine such as Formaggio di Capra alla Pancetta e Spinaci (goat cheese wrapped in Italian bacon, baked and served on a bed of spinach), Tortelloni di Ricotta Bufalina Agli Asparagi (home made tortelloni stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a fresh asparagus sauce) and Biscottini Fatti in Casa con Vin Santo (homemade Tuscan and Venetian dipping cookies served with a homemade orange infused liquer).

One of L.A.'s premier Italian dining rooms, Ca'Brea was founded by prolific restaurateurs Antonio Tomassi and Jean-Louis DeMori (Locanda Veneta, Ca' del Sol, Allegria, Il Moro) and continues to maintain top standards for food, wine and service. The split-level main dining room features a contemporary yet homey feel, with cozy booths, oversized pieces of modern art and tables dressed in crisp... more

The multi level dining room is infused with comfy wood sided booths. Classic antique framed mirrors cling to the walls and rousing prints are everywhere to be seen. Ivy stenciled pillars flank your entrance to this color filled Italian comfort food palace. Consistently busy because of the large tasty portions served to the patrons. The menu is an homage to Milan pasta and seafood fare.

Starters make the meal at this reliable spot -- try baked goat cheese wrapped in pancetta and served atop a Popeye-size mound of spinach. Among the entrées, look for the osso buco or the lamb chops with black-truffle and mustard sauce. The cozy loft is ideal for those seeking privacy. AE, D, DC, MC, V. Closed Sun. No lunch Sat.

The restaurant offers valet service for a modest charge, but with a little patience you can often find free street parking along La Brea.

In Short Even after a remodel in the wake of a 2006 fire, the variety of rooms here, including a mezzanine, main dining room, bar area, and an enclosed patio, create a sprawling, spacious charm. It's as if one has been invited to dinner in a country villa, adorned with colorful artwork, dark wood fixtures and warm caramel walls. The menu features Italian standbys like linguini with... more

When Ca' Brea opened in 1990, its talented chef/owner, Antonio Tommasi, was catapulted into a public spotlight shared by only a handful of L.A. chefs -- Wolfgang Puck, Michel Richard, and Joachim Splichal. Since then, Tommasi has opened two other celebrated restaurants, Locanda Veneta in Hollywood and Ca' Del Sole in the Valley, but, for many, Ca' Brea remains tops. The Venetian-style... more
