Peter Burnett was the first govenor of California. He was an Independent Democrat who served from 1849 - 1851. Peter Burnett Jr. High was opened in the fall of 1931. The name of the school eventually changed to Peter Burnett Middle School and then Peter Burnett Academy. At one time, the mascot of the school was a bobcat. Today the mighty bear stands as the mascot.

My daughter loves Burnett Academy. The teachers are extremely helpful and administrators are very nice. I love the amount of school club choices and the academic instruction she is receiving.
