This restaurant is great for families, and tends to be geared towards hospitably feeding large, happy families. The cuisine is robust and classically Italian. The atmosphere is one of high-energy frivolity, and the food is delicious.

From the Italian language tapes in the bathroom to the three-liter bottles of Chianti on every table, the vibe here is exaggerated Italian-American kitsch. Boisterous, sprawling dining rooms are modeled after supper clubs of the '40s and '50s--servers holler, kitchen doors swing, and Sinatra rules the stereo. The menu calls the Neapolitan pizzas 'bathmat sized.' That's an exaggeration, but this is a large pie by any standard. Bucca di Beppo has a warm spot in my heart. Sure, it's part of a chain, but they really have their act together. Great food, enormous portions, and a wonderful family atmosphere. This is my destination of choice on my birthday.

Worst dining service experience ever.

The food and atmosphere here is great! I had never had a problem with the service till last night. They sat my boyfriend and I down and it took about 4-5 minutes for out waitress to greet us. She took our drink order, delivered the beverages and bread. After I ordered my entree I asked if I could add a side salad and she said yes. We finished off the bread and my boyfriend's iced tea was... more
