I wanted to alert those you with bikes in need of repair that you should be careful when you visit one of the area's best known bike shops, Broadway Bicycle School. This is a small operation, but they are staffed by hard-core cyclist types. Generally very helpful, even on the fly, but they do tend to expect their customers to have a clue about bikes.

This place is incredible. I can't say enough good things about it. Bring your bike in; someone will assist you immediately. They've got bike stands set up for you to use (plus tools) or they'll fix your bike themselves, all the while showing you exactly what they're doing.
