I was really disappointed because everyone talks about this place all the time. The entrees are expensive and the restaurant is tiny and cramped. The tableside guacamole was the highlight of the meal. The servers seemed overstretched to give you any attention whatsoever. I really don't know what all the rave reviews were about because I'll never go back.
Everybody loves this old standby on the River Walk. The kitchen uses fresh local ingredients -- Gulf Coast seafood, Texas beef, Hill Country produce -- and the preparations and presentations do them justice. The setting is also out of the ordinary, in a turn-of-the-20th-century limestone building with hardwood floors and a handmade mesquite wood bar.
