Hidden Oasis on Melrose

Elixir looks plain from the outside, but it is worth a trip inside. They serve a large variety of teas and have their own brand of tonics, which can be combined with sparkling water or brewed in a tea. There are lots of Eastern gifts, soap, incense, decorative items, books, etc. as well as some cookies and snacks. Most of this is expensive, but if you walk through the store into the back, you will be in an urban oasis with nice tables, a central fountain and benches. If you would like to spend an intimate couple of minutes with a friend or family, Elixir should be on your list.

From the street, it looks like this is a New Age bookstore/giftshop. So I went in. There are books, teas (of course), candles, and lots of great last-minute gifts.
