Bossa Nova

Convenient Brazilian Food

Review Rating
Bossa Nova is conveniently located at Robertson and Santa Monica in the middle of West Hollywood. This is a friendly neighborhood restaurant. Prices are moderate, but the quality of of the food and service is really good. There is sidewalk dining, but on weekends it gets crowded (I never make reservations but occasionally wait.) Bossa Nova serves lots of salads, sandwiches, meat and a variety of pasta and fish. I always try to get some fried plantains with everything because Bossa does them very well. Generally, it is good for a few people rather than large groups because there are small tables inside and out. Parking is a problem, though, since this is WeHo--be prepared to valet it or walk.

When you can't make it to Rio de Janeiro for your Brazilian fix.Popular food: Sandwiches (try the Baura with grilled ham, mozzarella, and fried eggs on Italian bread); creative salads (Carnival salad includes heart of palm); pastas; wood oven pizzas (especially the Margherita or alho porró with leeks); grilled meats and veggie items marinated in Brazilian spices and herbs with sides such as... more

The patio is about twice the size of the colorful dining room inside, but both areas always seem to be overflowing with large plates and laughing diners. This Brazilian menu offers the usual fried yucca, fried plantains, coxinha, typical Brazilian sandwiches and hot items from the grill. But a large number of less ethnic options like a sauteed vegetable platter, pasta dishes Alfredo,... more

The tasty and tangy Caipirinha--a classic Brazilian drink of cachaca (rum), lime and sugar---is a light and refreshing complement to virtually every meal.

Parking can be a headache, especially as evening sets. Try the lot on Santa Monica Boulevard or one of the (costly) public parking lots.

The Scene It's all about the outdoor people-watching at this popular boys' town eatery. On any given night, crowds converge on the lot's plastic green tables and chairs as a handful of young delivery guys briskly make their rounds for the restaurant's robust delivery service. The Food Brazilian herbs and spices infuse pasta dishes, sandwiches and salads that are... more

I work probably 2 miles from this place in WEHO - and while our lunch options are really limited this place ROCKS. I can honestly say that my coworkers and I order from here at least once a week because the menu is absolutely HUGE!

So far I have had the classic grill (chicken, black beans, rice, plantains and salsa), the chicken lasagna (OMFG - so good) and the Bossa salad with sea bass - all... more

Bossa Nova sounds good, but so far every time I've gone I've walked away satisfied but not impressed. I'm not particular familiar with Brazilian cuisine, so maybe I've just been choosing the wrong items for my palate but after half a dozen times I'm just not getting the appeal. Outside seating is definitely preferable as indoors is dark but not in any romantic way. Well, not dark, but not... more
