Business Description from the Web
Texas's largest independent maintains a stock of over 200,000 titles, plus an eclectic array of non-book items that elicit everything from laughs to groans. All the employees seem genuinely happy to be there, and are universally helpful and knowledgeable. Like much of the rest of Austin, Book People has a fun, relaxed and slightly off-center personality. It's no wonder, when you consider that...

A literary mover and shaker, BookPeople has books and magazines for all, and sells gifts and jewelry. It also serves as a popular stop-off for author tours. Austin's New Age bent makes those authors a major draw, but they also bring in major names like Gregory Maguire, Joyce Carol Oates, and Neil Gaiman. BookPeople also has an extensive array of self-help videos, books on tape, and gift items (the KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD T-shirt is their bestseller). If you love books, just go to this place. In a world full of chain/franchised businesses Bookpeople is making a difference by making this bookshop a part of our daily life in Austin. 2 Story building. Just visit them, browse their, more than decent, collections and find a nice spot to read.
