pretty darn good

Review Rating
Not the best wine bar you've ever been to, but the staff are nice, the wines are decent and the food's pretty good. There are lots of tables, couches and a bar at which to hang around and a patio. Place gets crowded on weekends, but it's a good spot for a quick cheese plate or hummus appetizer before a movie. All wine is $8 a glass or $30 a bottle and some are better values than others, but if you go on Wednesday night, all bottles are $20.

The Scene Bodega sits in a quiet corner of the Paseo Colorado mall. The lofty, industrial-chic room spills onto the patio through floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Low lights and candles, tall tables, a back-lit bar--exactly the kind of place for swank sipsters to swirl and chat, more interested in good company and wine than a hot scene. House music adds ambience, but doesn't inhibit conversation ... more

I usually don't go out during the week because I have to wake up for work at dawn, but this place is great on sunday and monday nights. There aren't many places that are happening on those nights, but Bodega is an exception. The music is great, and so is the wine selection as well as specialty soju cocktails. Keep in mind, this is a beer and wine establishment. Head downstairs to the Yard House if ... more

scene overwhelms

i had heard and read great things about Bodega, so i was highly disappointed when i finally went with a group of friends. while i do like the concept, in reality the wine was mediocre, the service average and the crowd was a swarming and smarmy singles scene (albeit young and attractive). if you like wine and actually want to hold a conversation with the person you came with rather than ten others ... more

Great Place to Unwind

Bodega is one of my favorite places to go in Pasadena. The wine selections are great and represent a wide array of regions and flavors. The food is very good as well. They make a brie grilled cheese, and a tuna panini. The pizzas are really good too, thin crust and plenty of cheese and whatever else you order.

A lot of wine bars tend to be intimidating, crowded, or small. Fortunately, it's not the case at this neighborhood spot. Been going there since it opened in 2006 and always try to get there early to chat with the bartender, who always picks a good wine from the pretty decent list. The addition of DJ's on certain nights gives it an extra enjoyable dimension. Ironically, the place is never overcrowded ... more
