Help us make it rightJazz clubs in New York City are always jumping, and for more than 30 years this popular haunt in Greenwich Village has done the same. The club regularly books top musicians and award winners such as Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Dave Brubeck, Keith Jarrett, Tito Puente and Sergio Mendes. They provide great shows during brunch and the spot also supports young musicians who are still honing...
A special place for blues enthusiasts to spend an evening.
Since its inception in 1981, Blue Note has become one of the premier jazz clubs in the world and a cultural institution in Greenwich Village. Owner and founder Danny Bensusan had a vision to create a jazz club in Greenwich Village that would treat deserving artists with respect, while allowing patrons to see the world's finest jazz musicians in a close, comfortable setting. Artists who had...
Catch some "cool jazz" at this longtime Village "way of life" that stays "in touch with its roots" via "top-name" acts and a "rock-the-room" sound system; to doubters it's a "super-tight", "touristy" "sardine can" serving "mediocre" American grub, but fans insist it's all "about the entertainment, period."
Don't come here expecting some smoky Village jazz club of romantic legend. This is a far glitzier affair, with offshoots all over the world. You can't argue with the talent, though. The crème de la crème of the jazz world performs here, and on a typical night, you might find Milton Nascimento or the Clark Terry Quintet or David Sanborn or a glittering group of all stars saluting Dizzy Gillespie.
Regarding the Jazz scene in New York City, one of the Blue Note's managers matter-of-factly told us: "This is it." Indeed, the Blue Note is arguably the world’s most popular jazz club. Although the club only opened their doors in the early 80’s, it has the feel of a longtime veteran in the New York Jazz scene. Once you get over the commercial feel of the joint, including its gold-plaque...
The Scene
It has only been around since the mid-'80s, but it feels like the Blue Note has been on West 3rd Street forever. Once you get past a lot of trappings--the grand piano awning,...
Must go when in NYC! Nothing bad to say about this place! Good vibes all around! The atmosphere is vibrant and the food is amahhhhazing!
Let's be clear: If you go to the Blue Note, you're going there for the music. It's not for the food, which is a side benefit. We were there this week for music, and the food was very good (one got steak, one got salad,...
Had a wonderful evening at the Blue Note Jazz Bar, whilst on holiday in New York.
As we had not booked we were lucky to get the last 2 seats at the bar. $20 per person, entrance fee.
We saw the multi Grammy winning Pacquito...
My husband and I went there for brunch on sunday. Just loved the experience... great music, efficient service and delicious food. Note that the service is ‘a la carte’ so dont expect any messy fatty buffet. Would definitly recomend.
This is the fourth time visiting the Blue Note. This time, we ate dinner and were able to get seated early for 8 pm show featuring Paquito D’Rivera. The food was excellent. In past visits, we have just ordered drinks and/or appetizers. I will definitely...

Jazz & Blues Clubs: Is it pricey? Yes. Filled with nearly as many tourists as locals? Probably. Still, Blue Note deserves a spot on any jazz aficionado's list of NYC must-sees. From B.B. King to Roberta Flack to Cecil Taylor, generations of greats have graced Blue Note's considerable stage. Today, emerging up-and-comers like the Bad Plus play occasionally as well, bringing slightly younger...
The Blue Note has play host to a number of the world's jazz greats including BB King and Roberta Flack. Located in Greenwich Village, visitors should be prepared to pay a pretty penny to see the night's entertainment.
In addition to any ticket or cover charge, there's a $5 minimum at tables and a one-drink minimum at the bar.
Late-night jam sessions are not uncommon, and yield the opportunity to get a heavily-discounted table.
