Most awesome animal (& their people) care!!! :)

Dr. Beth Dutton has been my family's Vet since she took over the Blue Cross Clinic in late '70's! Dr. Beth is an AMAZING doctor (incredibly well versed in traditional and alternative veterinary medicine) and a wonderful human being - insightful, compassionate, thoughtful.. she is brilliant! A genuine 'animal whisperer'!! And so sensitive to the feeling and needs of the human parents of the animals entrusted to her perfect care! I wholeheartedly and passionately recommend Dr. Beth Dutton, she has provided exceptional care for both my childhood canine companions and my adulthood kitty companions - we have ALL been blessed by her loving kindness! :-)
I would be remiss if I did not mention the fact that recently I have also had experiences with both Dr. Ryan and Dr. Bennett of Blue Cross Clinic and, like Dr. Dutton, these two Vets have also been remarkable in their skills and their compassion and kindness towards my kitty babies (as well as towards their high maintenance mommy!).
I am so grateful that the Team at Blue Cross Clinic has been there for me and my animal babies through the good times and the challenging ones... Dr. Dutton, Dr. Ryan, and Dr. Bennett are, without exception, wonderful and gifted Veterinarians! I highly recommend them for the compassionate care of your animal babies!!! - hh :)

blue cross veterinary clinic

Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic ‪4111 North 36th Street‬
I had a terrible experience I am compelled to share about. I have never written a review about anything before... especially online... but this is an true, heart-felt warning. My dog was sneezing brown blood today, and I did find a fantastic vet that helped, but im not here to talk about that. I am sure you will find the right vet, in knowing the wrong ones.
Please keep in mind, that it would be simple to write a review of praise, that could possibly be untrue, by friends of those involved, in order to perpetuate there business. That only came to mind, due to the fact that I see positive reviews about this Clinic, and I simply do not see how that is possible. I am a reasonable man. I help run a charity in Guatemala...
‪ I brought my dog there a few days ago, and now having some resolution from another Veterinarian, I can calmly speak of this now. When I arrived, I told them about her choking and ejecting brown dried blood discharge from her nose and throat. The first woman was very nice, and was compassionate, and paged for emergency help. ‬
‪ The help never came. ‬
‪ When I explained the problem with my dog, I was in shambles, and the next young woman at the desk said “We will try to get you in, but we are totally booked.” Well, I was not trying to be rude, but there was nobody in the office by myself, and I saw no other employees for that matter, anywhere, except the two ladies at the desk. I stated “How is that possible, there is nobody else here.” ‬
‪ I was then greeted with a very crude look, and I felt that I had said the wrong thing, but I had no other way to see it, or say it. ‬
‪ I then sat down, and waited, and the second young woman leaned over the counter and stated, “The visit is 40 dollars, but since you are walking in, with no appointment, It will be an additional 60 dollars.” To witch I asked, “How can the extra cost be beyond the visit cost.”‬

I could understand if it was double.. but it surely seemed to be a clear case, of somone trying to take advantage of me at a weak moment.”

Things are hard right now, and as much as I love my dog, I was considering that 100 dollars, and the round of things she would need, and the math in my head was telling me it would quickly be a thousand dollar nightmare, that I simply do not have.

I had no other choice, but to stand right up, and try to get her to someone else, as fast as possible, as she seemed at the time, to be choking to death on her own blood. I was afraid. Shes my fur baby daughter. I dont have children, I only have her.

When I walked out, the woman snapped at me, and I felt it to be absurdly unnecessary, as she said “ You have yourself a nice day sir.”

I looked down at my baby, with a face stained brown with awfull smelling sadness, and looked back up at her and said “ That is unlikely ” I did not have a nice day. I most certainly did not.

I did find a fantastic vet. He did an in house blood test, an outsourced test, radiology of heart and lungs, examination of vena cava and tracheal problems, witch he ruled out. She was given an antibiotic injection, two weeks of follow up, a nights stay, treat wraps for the pills, and he spoke with me for hours about possible problems with my old dogs. I learned that my last Shepard broke its hip possibly because the previous vet gave her prednisone and hydrocortisone for hip pain. He informed me that it can actually cause problems with bone marrow. That is what happened too. Her hip shattered on the kitchen floor one day as she made a movement. I was trained, and made at home. This vet charged me 425.00 for all of this. The visit was 25.00. It was not 100 dollars for a visit...

I cannot warn you enough about the Blue Cross Clinic. That actually sparked an idea in my head. Now I recall why I thought it was an emergency facility, due to the name having the inclusion of “Clinic” but perhaps I perceived it wrong. It is by appointment only.

There was one thing I was not going to say, as I feel that I might have gotten over emotional, but later that day I called at three in the afternoon, and used a fake voice, because I just had to know... I called and asked them for an appointment. They told me they could see me. They were not full. They lied to me. Im sorry... I just have to let the cat out of the bag. Pun intended.

We absolutley love these caring people. They have cared for our pets since the '90s, and we wouldn't think of taking our 4 legged kids anywhere else.
