Steps from the Steppenwolf, young professionals on the prowl nosh on bar food and frothy brews.

In Short
A post-collegiate crowd haunts this dim, classy-casual Lincoln Park bar and dining hangout. Hardwood accents, a copper-topped bar and candlelit tables are a departure from the...

Great Place

Love the Duck! Always enjoy the food, service is great. Dan the owner is around most of the time and he is wonderful. Treats everyone like this is their place. He is on top of service and food quality. Summer is nice sitting outside.

This is a long-standing "bar with surprisingly good food" in Chicago. Good to stop by if you're in the area (not far from North/Clybourn red line). One of the original gastropubs in Chicago (minus the quesadillas, which are damn good)

Very Good Prices For The Area

The Black Duck has a cozy, pub-y kind of feel to it; dark wood paneling, local photos on the walls, long bar, lots of TVs, and not too loud. The prices are very good for this mini-theater district in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Service was fairly lax; we had to request water refills, and for the most part, our food...

My sister and I went to this restaurant after recommendations from our hotel and persons working at Hot Tix. We had theater tickets in the neighborhood and wanted a restaurant close by as we didn't have a car with us. We enjoyed a delicious meal--we both ordered Italian wrap with grilled chicken. My sister had a side dish of pasta...

Tips about this business (6) view all

What to Drink: Libations include seven beers on tap (Guinness, Harp, Bass), a short wine list and a martini menu featuring the Black Duck martini (Stoli Razberi vodka and Chambord with a twist), a Maker's Manhattan and a chocolate martini.

Know Before You Go: Weekends get crowded with young professional singles on the make. If you're looking to spend intimate moments with a significant other or good friends, come during the week. It's romantic, conversation-friendly and much less crowded.

Parking: Patrons can park for free in the back lot, or valet for $7 or $10 at nearby Vinci and King Crab.
