Birds Rotisserie Chicken Cafe & Bar

just the best chicken, plus healthy eats

Review Rating
Great place to hook up with friends for lunch. Good variety on the menu, though the specialty is a great rotisserie chicken with a variety of dipping sauces, optional sides (potatoes, veggies, fries) and generous piece of lavash for wrapping up the meaty goodness. I love the wraps, as they're very fresh and tasty & just the right size. Great drinks at the bar, which makes this a nice hang-out well into the evening.

Good "scene" and drinks and decent food. The service can be REALLY SLOW and a little sloppy but the staff is always friendly. Think cafe (as the name says) more than "restaurant".

It can be a little crazy at night (more bar than cafe).

All this sounds like 3 stars, but we keep coming back and back and back so it must be at least 4. ;-)

Even though Birds is named after Alfred Hitchock's infamous cult film, this neighborhood hangout is not nearly as scary. In fact, this hip Hollywood gem attracts all of LA's typical pretty people in need of a night away from the bright lights and long lines. Birds is known for (you guessed it) its poultry (their three-piece dark meat plate is particularly tasty!) and their comfort food-style... more

Lively restaurantbar decorated with a healthy dose of kitsch as in: large birdcage for go-go dancers after midnight, Birds is a neighborhood joint where chicken is always the special of the day and cocktails are every bit as important as the main course. The scene is brimming with gregarious singles.

The Scene Amid a stretch of trendy shops and eateries, this Franklin Avenue bar and restaurant divides itself between alcohol and rotisserie chicken. The contingent of neighborhood bar hoppers, singles and theatergoers converges inside the red walls to share drinks over sports telecasts. Winged-animal trinkets adorn the drinking area, which consists of a small-but-cozy bar, a few... more

Roasted bird is the number one stunna, man. Got feather allergies? You might get bird flu with all the avian paraphernalia. Fortunately there's enough liquor on-hand to convince some young chick or strutting cock to help you wet your beak. Earlier arrivals can watch sports. Are these Bohemians or undercover jocks? Flirty dates can play chicken during dirty debutante burlesque at midnight by... more

This lively restaurant/bar is an important part of the Franklin Avenue scene, where a row of cafes and trattorias compete for customers. The room is splashed with red paint, with a lone brick wall sporting a huge picture of Alfred Hitchcock -- a bird on each shoulder -- peering out over the dining room. Other ornithological images abound, particularly roosters, and the kitchen's specialty is... more

we waited for over an hour and when we called about our order, she said they don't do anything about that and other people are usually cool with it.

This place is scary and violent. There are always problems here, and everyone seems to want to fight - too much drinking and nothing else. The food is sub par.

It's the same old tired crowd every night. All the regulars who live in the area go there 4-5 nights a week. Most probably because it's a short stumble back home at the end of the night. I can't think of any other reason one would want to go there. It's pretty much a sausage fest aside from a few girls that frequent the place, but they aren't much to look at and have made their rounds in that... more
